Note:
This page focuses on the advantages that ESI’s amazing Remote IP Feature Phone
uniquely provides. For more details on the particular
ESI system with which you intend to
use this product, please see the appropriate part of the ESI Web site: either IP
E-Class or IVX. And the Remote IP Feature Phone brochure
gives you even more details on this amazing product.
- Provides
office-quality communications, wherever the office may be
ESI’s Remote IP Feature Phone works virtually like all the other ESI
Feature Phones on the office system:
- The superb voice mail system
works the same.
- The easy-to-use function
keys work the same.
- All the indicators light up
the same.
- The big, easy-to-read
display works the same.
In fact, to the ESI phone system, the Remote IP
Feature Phone is just another extension. Others on the system can reach it
by just dialing an ordinary extension number, as if it were just down the
hall — even if it’s actually many miles away.
The following diagram shows one possible
setup. In this case, there are two remote locations connected via either
wide area network (WAN) or the Internet to an ESI IP PBX at the main office.

- Saves money — With a Remote IP Feature
Phone, you can enjoy high-quality office communications without the need for
an expensive dedicated phone line connecting the remote site and the main
office. Also, you’ll save on long distance charges by being connected via
either a WAN or the Internet. Let’s say you’re in Los Angeles and have a
Remote IP Feature Phone connected via the Internet to an ESI phone system at
your main office in New York; just dial an extension to reach the New York
office — toll-free. (If the main office already has a toll-free number,
this will allow you to dedicate it even more fully to calls from
customers, prospects and vendors.)
- Provides flexibility — With the rapid
growth of DSL and other broadband services, fully functional Remote IP
Feature Phones can be deployed to small remote locations such as local
sub-offices or teleworkers’ desktops at home.
- Allows transparent routing — Because the
Remote IP Feature Phone works just like any other ESI feature phone on the
system, you can route incoming calls transparently to a Remote Phone. This
is a great way to handle calls to sales, service or other departments which
may be located off-site. Indeed, because all ESI IP-capable phone systems
have built-in automatic call distribution, this may be the ideal solution
for a remotely located call center.
- Is better for executives and teleworkers
— With the Remote IP Feature Phone, the home phone line isn’t tied up and
the data connection still carries data traffic, such as Web browsing, while
Remote Phone conversations are in progress.*
* Certain minimum high-speed connection and
carrier standards required. See Americom Inc. for more details.
